First Spring 2014 Yeshiva University Dead Sea Scrolls Seminar

Yeshiva UniversityThe first Yeshiva University Dead Sea Scrolls Seminar for the Spring 2014 semester will take place at 6 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Wilf (uptown) Campus of Yeshiva University in the Lipschutz-Gutwirth Study Hall (Rubin Shul), 2501 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10033.

This seminar marks the publication of Reading and Re-reading Scripture at Qumran by Dr. Moshe J. Bernstein, Professor of Bible and Jewish History and David A. and Fannie M. Denenberg Chair in Biblical Studies at Yeshiva.

There will be two presentations:

Dr. Hindy Najman, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Yale University, “A Preparatory Study of Nomenclature and Text Designation in the Dead Sea Scrolls;”

Dr. Lawrence H. Schiffman, Vice-Provost and Professor of Judaic Studies at Yeshiva University, “The Temple Scroll Between the Bible and the Mishnah.”

Dr. Bernstein will be the respondent to both papers.
